She's like the wind

On March 13th I ran my first 5k. My family has put up a challenge to run this year. Some of them have a goal of a half-marathon and others (namely me) have given myself the challenge of a 10k. Growing up playing basketball (or any sport for that matter) running was always a punishment. If I had a quarter for every suicide I ran I would be pretty well off. There was always a time to beat in order to get playing time. As a result I HATED running. Now, I say I hated it because after running just to run, I have found it not so horrible. Matt and I went up to Ft. Collins and met up with two of my sisters and we ran the 5k. And I won! Not really, but I really liked it. I will be running my 10k in May and I am looking forward to accomplishing that goal.

By the way, this is our reenactment of the race. Boy, we look good! :)

The literal meaning

The girls had a "snowball fight" today after church. This consisted of the girls taking turns throwing globs of snow at each other. When they came in Annalie exclaimed, "I can't feel my toes!" To which Malorie responded, "You feel like you don't have any toes?"

I can only imagine the visual that Malorie had in her head.

Bouncing Baby Boy

Here is some video of our bouncing baby boy. He loves his 'Johnny Jump Up!'

Getting so big!

Thomas is getting so big! He has had so many accomplishments in the past few weeks that I will try and get them all on here! He has started doing a real crawl. None of this low crawl stuff anymore. He has also started pulling himself up on things. He usually gets up to his knees pretty easy but he has even started getting himself up on his feet!!! He is also feeding himself. He likes the baby food, but he thinks that being able to feed himself is pretty cool! Here are some pictures of him approaching his obstacle (the pillow), attacking it, and conquering it. And yes, he has to do it all with his mouth wide open. He is so fun to have around!

Head, shoulders, teeth and hair?

This week they had a crazy hair day at school. Annalie wanted to go big...so big we went! We used two Styrofoam cups to create this masterpiece. I must say, it was a BIG hit.

Thomas got his first two teeth! The only time I can get him to open his mouth wide enough to see the teeth is when he is eating. I apologize for the "see-food".

He has also started pulling himself up on things. His favorite jungle gym is Mom, but he is branching out and I even caught him trying to figure out how to pull himself up on the couch! I guess we will have to baby proof the house to the next level!

Dinner at the Days

This is how dinner went tonight at the Day house...

Annalie: Mom, why don't they have Spring Olympics?
Mom: What sports would they have in the Spring Olympics?
Annalie: Like Three-legged race and potato sack races.

A few minutes later (as I was cleaning up dinner) Malorie starts crying.

Mom: What happened?
Malorie: I poked myself in the eye!
Mom: How did that happen? Did you just jab your finger into your eye?
Malorie: Yes.
Mom: Why would you do that?
Malorie: I didn't see my eye there!

It is very hard to try and stifle a laugh when your child is in pain. :) My girls crack me up!

Objects in Mirror...

Annalie has always been the obedient child. She takes orders/instructions very seriously. She is also our dramatic child. Whenever she is upset she writes notes. Some of them have been pretty tame and other pretty funny. This note in particular was dramatic enough that I thought I would share it. This is written on a dry erase board before a trip up to Ft. Collins to spend the weekend with Aunt Sarah. Matt was also taking up a bookcase for Sarah and therefore there were no back seats available for Annalie.

To Translate:
Dear Mom,
I do not want to sit in the front seat! On the mirror it said: children under the age of 13 will be injured or even DEATH! I do not want to be in that DEATH part! Write back.
Love your soon to be injured,
Annalie Day
(PS I love you)

By the way, she made it up there safely and had a great time with Sarah! :)
